- ISPT CEO Daryl Browning will step down after 17 years in the role and 20 years with the organisation. Under his leadership, ISPT has grown from about $2 billion of property assets under management to nearly $20 billion. “The board, in conjunction with Daryl and his leadership team, have been reviewing our corporate strategy for the next five years and together we feel this is an appropriate time for him to hand over the reins to a new CEO to take ISPT through its next phase of growth,” Chair Rosemary Hartnett said. An internal and external search was underway for Mr Browning’s successor, with a transition planned over the coming months.
- JLL CEO Stephen Conry has announced plans to retire after 40 years at the company, including 13 years as CEO of Australia. “It has been a very fulfilling career journey – full of challenges, opportunities and great people. Property is an industry that I have been passionate about since 1982 when I started at JLL as a trainee property valuer,” Conry said. Conry joined the firm in 1982 as a trainee, working his way up to Director in 1989. He was appointed Managing Director for Queensland in 1996 and has served in various national business leadership roles before being named Australia CEO and joining JLL’s Asia Pacific Executive Board in 2009. The company said it would undertake a thorough process before appointing a new CEO.
- Sentinel Real Estate has appointed Anthony Cuzzupi as Project Director and Owen Altham as Development Manager. Cuzzupi will manage the development of Sentinel’s projects in the eastern states from inception through approval, construction, and delivery. Prior to joining Sentinel, Cuzzupi managed his own Melbourne-based property consultancy practice and served as Project Director for SHL and Senior Development Manager for Urban Regeneration at Lendlease in Melbourne. Altham will play a key role in the development of Sentinel’s upcoming build-to-rent tower in Scarborough, as well as the delivery of Phases II and III of Sentinel’s flagship Australian BTR project, Element 27, in Subiaco, Western Australia. Prior to joining Sentinel, Altham served as Senior Project Manager at the Sydney-based Astina Group and Project Manager at APP Corporation Pty Ltd in Perth.
- CBRE has recruited the latest winner of Australia’s iconic Bathurst 1000 motor race, Lee Holdsworth for its newly-formed Capital Markets – Petroleum, Oil, Gas and Energy team in Melbourne. In December, Holdsworth won the Bathurst 1000 alongside Chaz Mostert for Holden team Walkinshaw Andretti United. The company has hired Will Carman to lead its Brisbane Metropolitan Investments team, bringing some 15 years of experience to the role. Carman joined from Savills, where he was recognised with one of the company’s peak national awards in 2020 for his leadership and business excellence ahead of receiving an outstanding performance award in 2021. CBRE also promoted Jenna Wallace to lead CBRE’s Pacific Transaction Management and Portfolio Services team. She brings 15 years of property experience to the role and has worked in CBRE’s New Zealand business for the past four years. Wallace will relocate to Sydney mid-year.
- Resolution Capital has appointed Morgan Ellis as an ESG Analyst. Ellis brings extensive investment research experience, specialising in global real estate and materials sector companies. Most recently he was Vice President, ESG Research at MSCI, where he was focused on sustainable impact investing, mapping climate risk within global property and power assets, testing carbon regulation scenarios on ASX200 companies’ performance, and assessing modern slavery regulations and their impact on investors.
- Knight Frank has hired Ben Younger as Director, Investment Sales in Perth, strengthening its Capital Markets team in Western Australia. Younger made the move after nearly 16 years at CBRE Asia Pacific, six of which as Director, Capital Markets, Metropolitan Investment Sales in Perth. He left CBRE in early 2021 and spent nearly a year with developer Collab Capital before joining Knight Frank. The company has also grown its Project Management team with the recruitment of Larry Wagenheim as Director, Project Management and Building Consultancy in Sydney. He brings 15 years of experience in property, including roles at Westpac Group Property, APP Corporation and Multiplex.
- Colliers has expanded its regional retail investment offering after appointing Lachlan MacGillivray to the new position of Managing Director, Retail Capital Markets | Asia Pacific. After 11 years as Head of Retail Investment Services in Australia, Lachlan will expand his role and partner with Colliers’ Asia Pacific Capital Markets experts across the region to grow the company’s market share in this highly specialised service.
- JLL has also expanded its NSW Capital Markets team with the appointment of James Barber as Executive Director. Barber brings more than 25 years of experience in the commercial property industry. His most recent role at Colliers focused on the disposal or acquisition of investment-grade property and large-scale development sites across Australia. JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has expanded its National Hotels team with the appointment of Christian Tsalikis to the Queensland Pubs team as Vice President. Tsalikis has more than 10 years of topline agency experience and boasts a long list of impressive transactions mandates across pubs, motels and caravan parks.
